The price of an electronic signature in Ecuador depends on the issuer, validity period and certificate format. As examples with published sources, ICERT-EC offers the .p12 file for USD 27.60 for two years, while tienda.firmar.ec lists USD 23.60 for one year for a Uanataca · Namirial certificate. Both amounts include VAT and were checked on 16 September 2026.
Signing a PDF with the firmar.ec web tool is free. What you buy from a provider is the electronic certificate; you then use it with a compatible signing tool.

How do you compare two electronic signature offers?
- Compare the same format. File certificates, USB token certificates and remote certificates may need different tools. The firmar.ec signing workflow uses
.p12or.pfxfiles. - Check the validity period. A price for one year is not equivalent to the same price for two years. Check renewal conditions too.
- Check VAT and charges. Compare the total you will pay, without mixing before-tax and after-tax amounts. Ask whether a physical token is charged separately.
- Choose the holder’s profile. Individuals, legal representatives and company members may have different requirements.
- Confirm intended use and delivery. Check that the certificate meets your procedure’s requirements and ask about identity verification. Paying or submitting an application does not mean the certificate has been issued.
Which certificate do I need for SRI electronic invoicing?
Check the holder’s profile, required information and certificate compatibility with your provider and invoicing system. ICERT-EC’s official application instructions say to register the RUC when a file certificate will be used for invoicing.
Do not choose solely by the lowest amount: short-validity products may have restrictions. For example, the tienda.firmar.ec catalogue states that its 7-day certificate is issued without a RUC and cannot be used for SRI electronic invoicing.
Signing an invoice’s PDF also does not replace the XML signature produced by your invoicing system.
What costs are separate from the signing tool?
The provider sets prices and conditions for issuance, renewal, physical tokens, reissuance and certificate recovery. Check which services are included in the offer; there is no universal surcharge applying to every provider.
Signing PDFs at app.firmar.ec is free. You can use a compatible certificate obtained from another provider. If you already have one, you do not need to buy another just to use the tool.

Do not assume that it does. A .p12 file and a certificate stored on a token are different formats. Check whether the offer includes the device, issuance, taxes and renewal before comparing prices.
